Very interesting aspect. I have a really bad debt collection agency after me that doesn't even apply what I've paid to the account. Wish I could learn how to get rid of them! I recently refused to pay until they could show the payments I've already made.
On another note - I read your thread about Apotheker & Associates. They nailed us two years ago and really scared the money right out of us with tons of screaming, threatening, and down right horrible treatment. We are close, within a year, to finishing off our payment agreement with them, which was twice as high a monthly payment then what we were paying the credit card company originally!

I have more of a request than a comment. I hope you don't mind. Could you do an article about choice of law in PA? I read a couple of cases where VA or DE choice of law was applied in PA cases.

Wow, that's an eye opener! Thank You for your response. This is by far the best PA site I've seen yet. I hope it continues, I really do enjoy reading it.

I love the site and greatly appreciate all the knowledge and experience you share. Say they did provide that list, wouldn't it need to be authenticated? Generally it's just a spread sheet isn't it? Couldn't they just add and remove names at will? Not that I would ever accuse a JDB of doing that!

If you file an Answer, you are waiving Preliminary Objections. Objections must be the first response to a lawsuit, or they are waived.

If you already filed answers, wouldn't you still be able to file Preliminary Objections? Or would you have to have raised those same issues in your answers in order to be able to still raise PO's?

That is a federal question, pursuant to FCRA adverse credit is 7.5 years past the date of delinquency (usually earlier than the charge off date). 10 years for judgments.

In PA, what is the length of time a Charge Off amount will appear on your credit report if you have "settled" the original balance owed?

Interesting. I like many others have pulled out all the stops for this xmas and am thinking about how I am going to pay back the credit cards. I will think about this and some of the other ideas on your site which may help repaying some of the cash after the holidays.
